SUMMARY:Introduction training, Simcenter 3D, online
DESCRIPTION:Training overview\nThe goal for the training is to obtain enough knowledge of Simcenter 3D ( https://volupe.com/mec-category/simcenter-3d/ ) (SC3D)  to design a simple geometry, to mesh and set up a simulation model, and to solve a SOL101 structural ( https://volupe.com/simcenter-3d/benefits-of-using-simcenter-3d-sol101-sol200-restarts/ ) and SOL103 normal eigenmode analysis.\nPractical knowledge gained also includes postprocessing of the results ( https://volupe.com/simcenter-3d/result-probes-simcenter-3d/ ). Moreover, the course will give an understanding of the workflow in Simcenter 3D from CAD to postprocessing as well as making the user accustomed to the interface.\nThe last session of the course builds on the previous knowledge gained to define more complex analyses containing several bodies and ways of structuring simulation files to handle larger assemblies. We will cover strategies for replacing parts and reusing simulation files ( https://volupe.com/simcenter-star-ccm/simplifying-design-iteration-and-optimization-workflow-with-model-reimport-in-simcenter-star-ccm/ ) and also look at fastener modelling both for 1D elements and solids.\nDuration: Three half-days (3 x 4 h).\nTraining content\nSession 1\n\nStart-up (getting to know the GUI as well as a quick simulation setup)\nPre-Processing (Understanding SC3D file hierarchy as well as looking at modelling CAD and understanding the difference between idealization vs. abstractions)\n\nSession 2\n\nMeshing (with focus on 2D and 3D meshing of solid and thin structures)\nSimulation files: boundary conditions and simulation objects\nSolving and post-processing of results (Understanding solutions, subcases and how solution output can be controlled)\n\nSession 3\n\nIdealized parts and geometry updates (How part revisions be handled to use previous simulation setups)\nHandling simulations with multiple bodies (Connecting dissimilar meshes and introduction to contacts)\nFastener modelling 1D and 3D for Nastran linear structural solutions\nAssembly FEM setup and solution\n\nPrerequisites\nEngineering background (previous experience of FEM simulations or structural calculations will ease the learning process).\n
