What is Altair Hyperworks?
Altair HyperWorks is the industry’s most comprehensive design and simulation platform, built to help engineering teams tackle complex multiphysics challenges from concept through validation. The platform brings together pre-processing, solving, post-processing, optimization, and data management in a single, open environment.
HyperWorks spans structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, multibody dynamics, electronic system design, and manufacturing simulation. Its open, programmable architecture supports over 250 CAD and solver formats, and a Python API lets teams automate repetitive workflows and enforce standards across projects.
With the 2025 Siemens acquisition of Altair, HyperWorks is now part of the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem. As a Siemens Platinum Smart Expert Partner, Volupe bridges both the Simcenter and Altair portfolios — giving you a single point of contact for licenses, onboarding, and ongoing technical support.

Why Hyperworks?
Unified Multiphysics in One Platform
Engineers often manage separate tools for structural, thermal, CFD, and electromagnetic analysis. HyperWorks consolidates these disciplines into a single environment with shared data models, eliminating file conversion bottlenecks and ensuring consistency across physics domains. From concept design in Inspire to detailed analysis in HyperMesh and SimLab, every stage connects seamlessly.
Solver-Independent and Open Architecture
HyperWorks reads over 250 CAD and solver formats natively. It exports to all major FEA codes, including OptiStruct, Radioss, Nastran, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, ANSYS, and PAM-CRASH. Teams are free to use the solver that fits the problem without being locked into a single vendor’s ecosystem.
Optimization and AI-Driven Design
Altair pioneered topology optimization with OptiStruct and continues to lead with AI-enhanced workflows. PhysicsAI delivers simulation predictions up to 1000x faster than traditional solvers using machine learning trained on historical data. Combined with HyperStudy for design exploration, engineers can evaluate thousands of design variants in a fraction of the time.
Automation and Programmability
HyperWorks’ Python API and built-in automation tools convert manual workflows into reusable scripts. Geometry cleanup, meshing, solver setup, and report generation become repeatable one-click operations. This helps teams enforce standards, scale simulation to more engineers, and capture expert knowledge in code rather than relying on tribal know-how

Connecting Simcenter and Altair
Volupe is one of few partners in Europe with deep expertise in both the Simcenter and Altair simulation portfolios. Whether you need STAR-CCM+ for CFD, Simcenter 3D for FEM, or HyperWorks for optimization and multiphysics — we support the full workflow from a single team. This means fewer vendor relationships, faster answers, and engineers who understand how the tools work together.
AI-Powered Simulation in HyperWorks
Automate Model Production with AI and Metadata
Engineers can automate much of their manual simulation inputs using AI tools embedded in HyperWorks. CAD metadata drives material creation and assignment — eliminating tedious manual work and accelerating model preparation significantly.
PhysicsAI: Real-Time Predictions
Altair PhysicsAI lets engineers train models on historical simulation data and get physics predictions up to 1000x faster than traditional numerical solvers. PhysicsAI is embedded directly in HyperMesh and supports both transformer-neural simulators (TNS) and graph convolution network (GCN) architectures. It is compatible with simulation data from STAR-CCM+, Nastran, OptiStruct, and other solvers.
Altair CoPilot
CoPilot is an intelligent AI assistant embedded within Inspire that provides on-demand guidance, answers questions about workflows, and helps engineers navigate complex simulation setups — reducing the learning curve for new users.
