Altair simulation software is now part of Simcenter
Siemens completed its acquisition of Altair in March 2025. Same technology, new names: here is what changes for you.

Altair and Siemens: what happened
Siemens completed its acquisition of Altair Engineering on 26 March 2025. The software of the Altair HyperWorks platform is now part of the Simcenter portfolio, and Siemens renames the tools one by one. It explains the change on its own page: Altair is now part of Siemens.

December 2025 Altair HyperWorks 2026, the last Altair-branded release
June 2026 The first Simcenter release with former Altair tools, version 2026.1
From December 2026 Siemens plans two major Simcenter releases a year, in June and December

Altair licences, support and renewals
What applies to your contract depends on how and when you bought it. Henrik Pahlitzsch handles licences and renewals, Johan Dahlberg technical questions.

Who owns Altair now? Is it part of Siemens?
Siemens does. It completed its acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc. on 26 March 2025. With the June 2026 release, most former HyperWorks tools became Simcenter products. Altair’s HPC and cloud products moved to HPCWorks and its data analytics to RapidMiner, and Altair One keeps its name.
What happens at my renewal?
Siemens still describes Altair Units as a units-based subscription: your team draws units from a shared pool and they return after use. What applies at your renewal, including the terms for version 2026.1, depends on your contract, so we do not publish general terms here. Send us your current units, the tools you use and your renewal date, and we will tell you what we can offer.
Will my models and scripts still work?
Siemens says the changes focus on naming, packaging and integration, and that the rebrand is designed to be “additive, not disruptive”, preserving the tools and workflows you rely on. We make no general promise about scripting interfaces or licence servers: read the release notes for version 2026.1 before you upgrade a production set-up, and ask us about your own set-up. Worked examples from our engineers are in our Simcenter HyperMesh articles.
Is Volupe an Altair partner?
Volupe supported HyperMesh, OptiStruct, SimSolid, Inspire, EDEM, SimLab and PhysicsAI as an Altair channel partner. These tools are now Simcenter products, and as a Siemens Platinum Smart Expert Solutions Partner we stay your contact for licences and support.
